What We Treat
The Precision Vascular Kentucky team is skilled in a variety of conditions affecting the vascular system. Whatever your concern, we’ll consult with you, learn more about your symptoms, and recommend a course of action. We specialize in the following conditions:
Peripheral Artery Disease
Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a common circulatory problem in which narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs. PAD occurs due to atherosclerosis, where fatty deposits build up in the artery walls and restrict blood circulation. This condition primarily affects the legs and causes pain when walking (claudication), numbness, or weakness in the legs. Individuals with PAD are at a higher risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack, or stroke. Thankfully, early detection has come a long way, and management is possible through lifestyle changes, medications, minimally invasive procedures, and, in some cases, surgery.
Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths on the uterus that often appear during childbearing years. These tumors range widely in size, from microscopic to bulky masses that enlarge and distort the uterus. While the exact cause of fibroids is unknown, factors like hormones and genetic changes play significant roles. Most women with fibroids experience no symptoms, but when present, symptoms may include heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and complications during pregnancy. Although fibroids are typically benign, their location and size can lead to significant discomfort and may necessitate treatment. Our team can develop a treatment plan that includes medication or uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).
Joint Pain
Joint pain affects hundreds of thousands of people. Many of our patients find success with medication and lifestyle changes, but others require minimally invasive procedures like genicular artery embolization (GAE). We’re experts in this procedure which involves the selective blocking of arteries to reduce blood flow to the knee. GAE has the potential to offer substantial pain relief for patients who have not responded well to conventional treatments and are not good candidates for knee replacement. By targeting the genicular arteries, we can directly address the source of the pain and provide treatment to those struggling with debilitating joint pain.
